A bridge in Berlin

Lamppost on a bridge in Berlin … between the Hauptbahnhof and the Reichstag. I love the notion of cast iron children, armed with dragon-slaying swords guarding the route to the seat of government.

Kaiser Wilhelm Gedaechtniskirche

16 08 2008
Modern-day Berlin as a city is one that hides most of it’s recent history well – much of the damage that’s left from WWII has been preserved, rather than ignored. However, so much of the damage from the war and the partition of the city, that’s what’s left forms incredibly poignant memorials.

These are my photos of the Kaiser Wilhelm Gedaechtniskirche – what was the city’s main cathedral before the war, and is now Berlin’s most moving monument to the distructiveness of war.
