Kensington swans

10 01 2009

This is a series I took last October of the swans that are often found at the Round Pond in Kensington Gardens, and have been meaning to post for ages. They always seem so serene and at peace with the morning – a very different mood than when they are scrapping for the bread crusts that the children and tourists distribute of an afternoon.

Rocky Mountain Glory

10 01 2009

What’s more fabulous than a day of solid snowfall, followed by a glorious sunny morning of skiing on fresh powder snow?

Mock-antler lightfitting

10 01 2009

This is a slightly odd piece of home furninshings (well, it is in my book anyway), but it is the lightfitting in the dining room of our holiday apartment in the Rocky Mountains … and it formed a good study for angles and the shapes that the shadows from it form.

A preserved fairytale

4 01 2009

As part of our Christmas wanderings, we made a day trip to the lovely village of Gruyeres when we were recently in Switzerland. Following are some of my favourite photos from the day.

As a post-script, I’m really not sure why there’s a Giger museum in the postcard-pretty hilltop medieval village of Gruyeres, but there is. So if you’re a mad-keen ‘Alien‘ or Giger fan, Gruyeres should be on your ‘to visit’ list. Me? I was more than happy just to explore the Chateau :)
